By analyzing the model of wideband signal and the condition of narrow band signal model, the paper discusses the range and velocity resolution of the LFM signal used in the wide band radar and sonar. It proves that the resolution of the LFM signal is affected by the spectrum and the scale of the signal. The relation between resolutions under two models is also discussed.
