In this paper, according to leme equations and mohr's theory, the new design formulas of single shrinking-on cold forming die arc deduced from introducing tension-compression specific intensity factor V and equal intensity factor β. it is important to show the allowance inner pressurc p as functions ofK. V. β.[σ] and put forward the best range of shrinking-on allowance. Reasonable selecting die material and increasing shrinking allowance arc interpreted as the effective measures for lasting die life.

The paper gives an outline of three major forms of malfunction occurring to ICE cam tappets, analyses the important factors causing malfunction to a cam tappet, such as design factor, materials of paired parts, roughness of surface, operating condition and lubricating behaviour, and through analyses further shows the approach to improvement of wear resistance of cam tappet.
