The stress field and displacements outside the damage area are calculated according to the anisotropio fracture formula. Present paper investigates the mechanism o'f the multi-branch cracks and the resulting stress relaxation in the fiber immediately ahead of the crack tip and proposes a method to evaluate the related Kc for the composite material. The method gives values in agreement with experimental results.
