The pressure infiltration process is a convenient and inexpensive method for manufacturing cast metal matrix composities. Inherent in the process is the ability to independently control the most important processing parameters such as fiber preform temperature TD, melt temperature T'm infiltration pressure P, and cooling rate, (or solidification time).A deterrent to the use of these materials for structural applications where high specific strength and modulus properties are important are the interfacial reactions...

The pressure infiltration process is a convenient and inexpensive method for manufacturing cast metal matrix composities. Inherent in the process is the ability to independently control the most important processing parameters such as fiber preform temperature TD, melt temperature T'm infiltration pressure P, and cooling rate, (or solidification time).A deterrent to the use of these materials for structural applications where high specific strength and modulus properties are important are the interfacial reactions between fiber and the matrix which degrade the fiber strength and hence, the com-posity strength. This investigation is primarily concrened with controlling interfacial reactions between P-55 graphite fibers and 1100A1 and Al-0.34%Ti alloys. The effects of processing parameters on these three systems were evaluated. This evaluation included optical and TKM metallography, SEM fraotography as well as mechanical property testing of composite castings and fibers leached from composite castings. The results of these evaluations show that sound composites with high mechanical properties can be produced by at least two routs: (1)control of processing parameters so as to minimize high temperature exposure of the fiber surfaces to molten metal, (2) alloying the matrix with Sior Ti to reduce the activity of carbon in the molten matrix.

Pure aluminum matrix Al 3Ti particle composite was made by a new in situ method involving reactions between Al and TiO 2 which was stirred into molten metal. The size of the reinforcement Al 3Ti particle which is homogeneous in the pure Al matrix is 2~3μm. The combination between Al 3Ti and Al matrix is very well. When the amount of TiO 2 is 30wt% and the reaction temperature is 920℃, the strength and hardness of the composite are higher than those of pure aluminum matrix by 71.5% and 134%, respectively....

本研究采用一种新型的原位反应工艺,使TiO2粉剂与纯铝熔体反应,生成Al3Ti颗粒,然后采用搅拌铸造法制备Al/Al3Ti复合材料。生成的Al3Ti颗粒尺寸细小,为2~3μm,而且分布均匀,与基体结合好。当TiO2加入量为纯铝基体的30wt%、反应温度为920℃时,复合材料的抗拉强度比纯铝基体提高71.5%,硬度提高134%,而延伸率较纯铝稍有下降。

TiN/Ti composite material was prepared with high power CO 2 laser focused on the surface of titanium alloy in nitrogen ambient. The microstructure, composition and micro hardness of the material were analyzed with SEM, XRD, EP (electron probe) and Micro hardometer. The depth of nitride layer and the surface micro hardness are 350μm and Hv1600 as the laser power density is of 3.35×10 5 W·cm -2 , scanning velocity of 300mm·min -1 , and nitrogen pressure of 0.35MPa respectively.

使用大功率CO2激光原位直接反应合成TiN/Ti复合材料,分析了材料的微观结构、物相组成、成分及显微硬度分布。结果发现:氮化层是富钛结构的,由TiN相和α-Ti构成,TiN以枝晶形式在氮化层均匀分布。材料横截面显微硬度连续变化。氮化层的氮化程度随激光作用时间的增加而增加,辐照的激光能量密度越高,氮化层的厚度越大。激光功率密度,激光扫描速度,氮气喷射压强分别为3.35×105Wcm-2,300mmmin-1,0.35MPa时,材料表面硬度值达到Hv1600,氮化层的厚度有350μm。
