In this paper a method for quantitative analysis of inseparable peaks (R<1) in chromatography is desoribed by using dual detector method.Results obtained by taking (a) anthracene and phenanthrene (R<0.4) and (b) m-and p-xylenes (R<0.16) as samples seem satisfactory. This method is applicable to inseparable peaks with very small R value.

Calcula-tion is done by means of an iteration procedure, and performed by a compu-ter program. When either the number of specimens with different contents isnot enough to use complete standardless method, or the number of standardsin hand is not enough to use standard method, analysis can be done by par-tial standard simultaneous equations.

The core of the model is made up of two parts: linear programming and a set of linear equations. The program was witten in Fortran with man-machine interactive mode. The model has been used in calculating the blending ration in Nov. It is estimated that an economic benefit of $ 110,000 might be obtained.
