    Two types of 300A low frequency pulse arc TIG welding machine have been developed. In this machine the pulse current is made purposely to have a peak at the leading edge, which enables successfully one side welding of small diameter tubes in position and meanwhile obtaining good reverse side weld forming. The method for improving the dynamic response of the saturable reactor is analysed and the problem of surge current at the arc initiation is solved. The electric circuits of both types of saturable reactor prove that they meet the technological requirements of low frequency pulse arc TIG welding. The pulse current generator is simple and is made with ordinary electronic devices. A simple electronic circuit is adopted for compensating the power mains fluctuation. These machines have excellent characteristics and are simple in construction, reliable in operation, easy to be repaired and light in weight. The weldable thickness for one pass welding ranges from 1-5mm in case of square butt joints and may be larger if bevel groove is applied. The developed machines are now being used in practice for welding 2-3.5mm, thick tubes in position and also the first pass of the circumferential seams of the pressure vessel made with 17mm thick stainless steel plates.

    The working principle of the automatic laser tracking transducer for welding will be described in the present work. The double receiver has various recepting combinations. By means of recepting signal of these combinations about 30 deviational positions of butt weld groove can be detected. Above-mentioned transducer can directly track the beveled sides, the edge of weld groove as well as the artificial tracking line (plastic tape). Aforesaid transducer has been applied in production.

By comparing the effect of four kinds of pulsed current wave forms (zig-zag, trapezoid, trapezoid with sharp front impulse and step form) on the formation of weld, we propose that step wave form has the best advantage for all position tube welding.     This work contributes to the study of the all position welding technology for small thick-walled tubes φ32~42×3~5mm and its equipment. By comparing the effect of four kinds of pulsed current wave forms (zig-zag, trapezoid, trapezoid with sharp front impulse and step form) on the formation of weld, we propose that step wave form has the best advantage for all position tube welding. By adopting step pulsed current wave form and its programmed welding parameters(magnitude of main pulsed current and wire feeding speed), it is possible to weld small thick-walled tudes in all position efficiently with a sound quality without any edge preparation, and it is also possible to have complete fusion in the first pass followed by a second covering pass with filler metal. The special features of successfully developed all position programmed pulsed TIG tube welding machine are briefly described: no "pig tail" welding head with "three steel balls" wire feeding mechanism, step wave form pulsed welding current source with low distortion and its overall control system. The technology and equipment developed by this research work has been applied already in industrial production and satisfactory results have been achieved.

    本文介绍了小直径厚壁管(φ32—42×3—5mm)全位置焊接工艺与设备的研究。比较了四种脉冲电流波形(锯齿波、梯形波、前沿带冲刺的梯彤波和阶梯波)对焊缝成形的影响,提出阶梯波对全位置焊管的优越性。推荐采用带有阶梯波的脉冲电流和焊接规范(主脉冲电流值和送丝速度)程控技术,做到不开坡口,一次焊透封底,再填丝施焊盖面,优质高效地完成小直径厚壁管的全位置焊接。概述了研制成功的程控脉冲钨极氩弧全位置焊管机的特点:带有“三钢球”送丝机构的“无辫子”焊接饥头;输出电流波形畸变极小的阶梯波脉冲焊接电源和整机控制系统。此项科研成果已在生产上应用,获得了满意的结果。
