Two stilbene derivatives, oxyresveratrol and kuwanon Y, were isolated from the roots of Morus alba L. Oxyresveratrol and kuwanon Y had been shown to inhibit protein kinase C with IC50 values of 48 μmol · L-1 and 15 μmol · L-1 respectively. Kinetic alalyses of oxyresveratrol revealed that the inhibition is noncompetitive.

Morus is one kind of significant pharmacological plant resources. We used mulberry leaves, Cortex.mori, mulberry twigs and mulberry cortexes collected in spring as the experimental materials, which were extracted by ethanol, to study the effects of lowering blood glucose on STZ diabetes mellitus mice. Results showed that these four traditional Chinese medicines have obvious good effects, among which mulberry twigs is the best one.

桑树是一种重要的药用植物资源。以春天采集的桑叶、桑白皮、桑枝(嫩枝)和桑皮4种中药材为材料,究了4种中药材的乙醇提取物对链脲佐菌素(streptozotocin)诱导的糖尿病小鼠的降血糖效果。结果显示,这4中药材都具有明显的降血糖作用,其中桑枝的功效最为显著
