    A detailed study has been conducted on the effects of gasification temperature, Na_2CO_3 loading and particle size of coal on the steam gasification of char. The sample was prepared by pressing a Na_2CO_3-bearing coal powder into φ5.5mm cylindrical pellets. The results shew that Na_2CO_3 loading could markedly enhance percent steam decomposing from 53 to 100% when gasification temperature was at the range of 750—950℃ and the cylindrical samples were prepared by the coal powder below 100 mesh. The percent of increase of steam decomposition was almost consistent with the amounts of CO and H_2 produced stoichiometrically according to the reaction of C+H_2O=CO+H_2. Subsequent experiment was performed to compare the reactivity of different carbonaceous samples after loaded with Na_2CO_3. It was shown that the reactivity of coke is the poorest.

The reduction—retardation zone located at the thermal reserve zone is a latent zone for wustite reduction. Injecting auxiliary fuel contained more hydrogen, improving reducibility of iron ore, increasing blast temperature and its oxygen content can develop the potential of this zone to further decrease the fuel rate.
