In these areas, the incidence of goitre was 4.39% (716/16324) with the peak ags of 10-15 and more were female. Statistically, water iodine concentration was positively correlated with both incidence of goitre and enlargement rate of the thyroid (r1 = 0.8969, r2 = 0.7135)in the endemic areas.
