This paper deals mainly with the relation of forestry characters of Chinesepine to the effectiveness of aerial sowing in the Loess Areas.Experiments andobservations were made on the germination of seeds,survival percentage ofyoung seedlings,rules of growth and development as well as the ability ofdrought-resistance and cold tolerance which conducted in order to find out theinfluence of these biological and ecological characters upon the effectiveness ofaerial sowing of Chinese pine in these areas. Results showed that the seeds of Chinese pine were small enough to havea close contact with the soil and thus germinated easily.If there were 80mmof rainfall and 7 cloudy or rainy days succeedingly,the seeds sowed wouldgerminate quickly and successfully.The seedlings have a strong geotropism sothat they have deep and well-developed root system. These fine forestry characters of Chinese pine made it possible to be anice tree species for successful aerial sowing in the Loess Areas.

Along with the development of the science of ecology, a series of branch sciences have been formed at present. Today,the ecology is not a single science, but a group of sciences-system of sciences. There are at least more than 100 sciences with their names containing "eco" . So emerges the necessity to classify the large number of ecological sciences.In our view, considering the nature of object and scale of study, and accordingly the methods which have to be adopted in investigation,as well as the trends of their development,the ecological sciences may be grouped into three categories, bioecology, geoecology, and globoecology.The following 8 issues should be focused dy the geoecological study, 1) artificial ecosystems, 2) bioindication (especially phytoindication), 3) geoecological mapping, 4) ecological monitoring, 5) ecological prognostigation, 6) ecological regionalization, 7) ecological planning and design, and 8) ecological impact assessment.
