Chirp fiber gratings's optical properties, including coupled mode equations, reflect profile and delay, are reviewed briefly in this paper. Various techniquies for fabricating UV written chirp fiber gratings are described. Finally, the applications of chirp fiber gratings are discussed.

The relations and simulating graphs between the 3 dB bandwidth, peak value, dispersion at λ\-p and sidelobe suppression of the reflection spectrum of linear chirped fiber grating and the chirp value of the grating are given by solving coupled mode equations using the transfer matrix method. In addition, a optimized chirp value range for practical dispersion compensator is obtained by analyzing the simulating graphs.

In this paper, by putting forward a simple and effective method of analyzing fiber grating:numerical method based on multi layers reflection,we deduce a series of important conclusions of fiber grating and point out the application foreground of this method at the same time.

提出了一种新的简单、有效的光纤光栅分析方法——基于多级反射的数值分析方法。利用这种方法可以求得光纤光栅的反射谱反射谱与光栅参数之间的关系等一系列重要结果。由于参数控制的灵活性 ,可以将这种方法用于啁啾光栅的特性分析。
