Based on the practice of safe monitoring in temporary ship lock and ship lift of the Three Gorges Project during its rock excavation by blasting, several problems related to blasting excavation are overviewed, such as the choice of blasting method and procedure in accordance with the analysis on blast induced damage zone during excavation of rock foundation, the control of blast vibration on the rock slope and the dividing pier between temporary ship lock and ship lift. Some unsolved important problems are discussed...
