Results Iodine deficiency and high lead load had closed positive correlation with inadequate content of E 2( r=0 850,P<0 01) ,and closed negative and positive correlation with selenium deficiency and LPO increasing( r =0 784 and -0 845 respectively, P av <0 01).
Results showed that there was no significant correlation between urine iodine concentration and TSH and T4 (P>0.05). The mean level of urine iodine of the subjects in iodine deficiency areas was 110.22-90.40μg/ L, indicating that iodine deficiency of inhabitants in the areas had been overcome.
Being around of 20μg/kg iodine in soil and only 3~4 μg/L iodine in water in the environment of Turpan, this area is under the condition of severe iodine deficiency.
Results The average IQ of children in the iodine deficient area was 71.11±0.46 before the iodine supplement and 73.26±10.32 and 86.95±10.64 five and 15 years after the iodine supplement. The low intelligence rates were 46.79%,28.57% and 6.67% respectively.
Methods:The serum TG and TSH levels were measured by immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) in 100 pregnant women in iodine deficient area 100 cases pregnant women in iodine sufficiency area as control.
Thyroid volume, urinary iodine excretion as well as personal nutritional knowledge and individual iodine prophylaxis were determined during a health education program on iodine deficiency and prophylaxis in 1992.
The study aimed to clarify the relationship between personal knowledge on iodine, individual iodine prophylaxis and parameters of iodine deficiency (thyroid volume, iodine excretion) in a well known iodine deficient area.
Iodine supplementation of laying hen feed: A supplementary measure to eliminate iodine deficiency in humans
Iodine deficiency still exists in many countries worldwide, to a certain degree this is also true for Germany.
These cellular changes caused by iodine deficiency are intensified, by aging, steroid hormones, and pituitary hormones.
???Albeit there was a high number of nodular transformed glands and goitrous patients included, and our cohort was recruited in an iodine deficient area, we did not observe hyperthyroidism in any patient.
The study aimed to clarify the relationship between personal knowledge on iodine, individual iodine prophylaxis and parameters of iodine deficiency (thyroid volume, iodine excretion) in a well known iodine deficient area.
Iodine prophylaxis-the protective factor against stomach cancer in iodine deficient areas
In conclusion, infants and young children in Belgium are as iodine deficient as all other age groups of the population and, consequently, are at risk of brain damage.
Lactating and probably pregnant women remain clearly iodine deficient.
First experiments are concentrating on a study of the decay of the neutron deficient iodine isotopes, extracted from a FEBIAD ion source and implanted at 60 keV into an iron host at 15 mK.
Our investigations clearly suggest that deficient iodine in the area of Baghdad was playing an important role in the causation of endemic goiter.
It can be concluded further that the reference range of thyroid pertechnetate uptake under TSH suppression will not change significantly when the iodine supply increases from conditions of mild iodine deficiency to iodine sufficiency.
Our findings also emphasize the importance of accurate reference data for thyroid volumetric determination of iodine sufficiency.
There are estimated to be 100 million persons with dietary iodine deficiency and one billion with borderline iodine sufficiency.
