It has been demonstrsted by the experiment of the author that the grain regularity and the 1,O00--grain weight are influenced by such factors as varieties, drought, sedding rate, soil fertility and lodging, where for the good varieties the weights are found to be 43.9--44.9g. in the year of fine weather (1959), and 31.6--34.1g. in the year of unfavorable weather (1960); whereas tor the less varieties the 1,000- grain weigths are found to be 35.7--37.6g. and 26.0--28.4g. in the year of fine and unfavorable weather respectively. The protein content was found to vary appreciably in each trial variety and plot. Following successive two years experiment by the author it has been found that it is advisable to harvest at wax stage, after 27--30 days heading in order to keep the protein content down to 12% or less.
