Design of a piezoelectric transducer cylindrical phase modulator for simulating acoustic emission signals
      
To conveniently carry out the pipeline leak experiment in a laboratory, leak acoustic signals are simulated by using the converse piezoelectric effect of a piezoelectric transducer (PZT) cylindrical phase modulator.
      
On the basis of the piezoelectric equations and electromechanical equivalence principle, the transfer function of a PZT cylindrical phase modulator is delivered.
      
A PZT cylindrical phase modulator is designed, and the numerical simulation is conducted.

This paper presents a scheme for electro-optic frequency shifting. This work suggests that electro-optic frequency shifting possesses potentiality of wide appli-cation. In the experiments on checking the effect of the frequency shifting, the experi-mental device is simplifed by auto-collmating round-trip of the light beam and space delaying the modulated signal. The frequency components of the frequency shifted light is analysed by using simple method of frequency beating.

A Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) optical modulator at high information rates has been designed by considering its configuration and stability, synchronous bandwidth, modulation efficiency, extinction ratio, insertion loss and modulated crystal size. The cutting and polishing of electrooptic crystals are described, and the adjustment technology of the modulator and its per- formance test are discussed. The combination modulator is developed, of which the characteristic, in general, has that the half-wave retardation voltage is 35V operated at a wavelength of 0.63μ, the extinction ratio is better than 17dB, the transmission factor is more than 33%, the capacitance is 30pf and the theoretical (calculated) synchronous bandwidth is approximately 700 MHz. In addition, the piezoelectric resonance is damped. The modulator was found satisfaction in the combined experiment on PC vl vi ible telephone communication by means of optical fiber link.

调制器的结构和稳定性、同步带宽、调制效率、消光比、插入损耗以及调制晶体尺寸等方面提出高信息速率铌酸锂(LiNbO_3)光调制器的设计。介绍了调制晶体的加工,调制器的装调工艺和性能测试。所研制的LiNbO_3组合调制器,通常其半波延迟电压为35伏(λ=6328A),消光比17dB以上,透过率大于38%,电容为30Pf,理论计算同步带宽约为700MHz,此外还消除了压电谐振。此调制器在光纤PCM可视电话通信联试中获得满意的结果。
