Uulike predictive deconvolution, the MED process makes no assumptions about the phase characteristics of the "seismic wavelet",nor does it assume that the reflection series is white-certainly a poor assumption over short-time windows where "bright spots" dominate. Rather than seeking to whiten data, the MED process seeks the smallest number of large spikes that is consistent with the data.

In this paper the two-dimensional unsteady groundwater flow toward the drain system has been studied, and formulas derived for computing the groundwater table and its time rate of change due to the combined effect of groundwater evaporation, rainfall or irrigating infiltration and artesian water leakage.In the meantime the time variation of the water level in the ditch has been taken into account,therefore the groundwater head are time-varying as the groundwater flows toward the drain system.Both theoretical and approximate solutions for the general problem has been derived.In addition,single supply cases as well as other special cases are also studied.The results presented in this paper can be applied in the design of a drain system and in the prediction of the groundwater table variation.

根据唐山地震的地质背景、某些前兆异常特征、地震裂缝的分布、震源机制等资料的综合分析,认为唐山地震是由于太平洋板块向西俯冲产生水平挤压应力和地幔上隆岩浆侵入产生的自下而上的挤压应力联合作用下,使围限在几条断裂间的唐山地块发生反时针扭动的结果,是在深浅地质构造控制下,在深部岩浆活动下发生的。提出唐山地震的构造──岩浆──热震模式。
