In Kweichow the rainy season is largely determined by the distribution of the monsoon winds. In this paper we have classified into several types the monsoons with their different characters and the factors which cause these monsoon circulations are discussed. The duration and the rainfall of the rainy season are given by table 1. The periodical beginnings of these monsoons are given by table 5. The following facts are obtained:(1)In the mean period of winter monsoon (February 21-April 19), sometimes the prevailing winds are strong southerly. They are caused by the local temperature differences between the warm western plateau regions and the cold eastern side of Kweichow during the day-time. They may be regarded as secondary monsoons. They give warm weather and slight amounts of rainfall.(2)In the mean period April 20-July 22, southwest monsoons are most strongly developed in immense areas. They give heavy rainfall.(3)In the mean period July 23-September 24, Kweichow is dominated by the subtropical anticyclones which then are farthest away from the equator. Here the prevailing direction of monsoon winds is southeast, and the deep descending air causes pronounced dry weather.(4)In the mean period September 25-November 22, since the prevailing winds are the summer monsoons as well as the winter monsoons, the convergente flows always cause relatively abundant rainfall In the mean period November 23-February 20, the prevailing direction of winter monsoon winds is north or northeast. At an elevation of only 2 to 3 kilometers the winter monsoons disappear. Above this level the southerly currents are moist. During this period, stationary fronts with high relative humidity and cloudiness are frequently seen, but because of low temperature the amount of precipitation is moderate or slight.

Nine seismic records were obtained along a profile 430 km long in a nearly N-S direction.Six groups of phases of seismic waves through the crust and upper mantle in the area are observed which show different kinematic and dynamic properties.The result shows that the crust and upper mantle of Xizang plateau are stratified. Here the thickness of the sedimentary layer is from 4 to 5 km. The crustal structures along the two sides of Yarlung Zangbo river are different. The crustal thickness from the north of the river to Damxung region is from 70 to 73 km and the interfaces in the crust are essentially plane. Compared with that of the northern part, the crust of the southern part of the river is thinner. From the river to Yadong belt the crustal thickness is from 68 to 45 km. The crust of Xizang plateau consists also of high and low velocities layers. There is a low velocity layer in the lower crust and its thickness is 10 km, and its velocity 5.67 km/sec. A composite cross section and a model of the crust is given.The northern boundary of the collision zone of the two plates is quite clear cut and every layer in the crust is upwarping towards south. It shows that the formation of a thick crust and the uplift of the plateau are due to the results of a long period of compression, deformation, and crustal shortening by folding in a large scale.

This paper deals with characters of time-space variation of the eastern Asia continent magnetic field (EACMF) during last thirty years. EACMF is the non-dipole field in this region.The magnetic field intensity of EACMF at each station is the difference between the normal field and the central dipole field. The normal field is computed according to taylor polynomial (n=3). The central dipole field is computed according to IGRF (n = 1). We had determined the centre (1970.0) of EACMF at (?)=44°N and λ=102°E. The centre's magnetic field intensity was 17 690 γ, and the magnetic field direction was vertical down.We have studied the secular change of EACMF by the data including eleven geomagnetic observatories of this region and many repeat-survey stations near the central region of EACMF. We have found the following characters of the secular change of EACMF.a. A character of the seculer change of EACMF shows that no west-ward drift is taken place, b. The centre of the secular change of EACMF did not correspond to the centre of EACMF itself, and another weaker centre of secular change was situated under the east part of Qing Hai-Tibetan plateau region.

本文利用近三十年来的地面测量资料和东亚地区11个地磁台的资料,以及1965.0、1975.0国际地磁参考场等资料,对东亚大陆磁场的时、空变化特征进行了研究。内容包括:东亚大陆磁场的空间分布特征及场源深度的估算,东亚大陆磁场的中心位置及其磁场强度、磁场方向,近三十年来东亚大陆磁场的长期变化特征等。得到的主要结果是:1.东亚大陆磁场的中心位置近三十年来没有西向漂移的迹象,从而推断它的长期变化主要由场源强度的变化所引起,而不是主要由非偶场的西向漂移所引起;2.东亚大陆磁场的中心与它的长期变化的中心不相一致,同时,在青藏高原的东部还可能存在一弱中心。
