The eaterase isozymes in 62 varieties involving 7 ecotypes of cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.) were analyzed. The number of bands and Rf value for each varieties were measured. The cofficient of variance in bands number and Rf value as well as the similarity index were determined and the affinity among ecotypes were compared. The results showed that the genetic differentiation in zymographic pattern was existed in each ecotypes, among which, Gundil ecotype showed wide variation(C.V. of bands number was 13.58%, C.V. of Rf value was 14.76%); Bore and Aus ecotypes were following Gundil (C.V. of bands number were 7.4% and 7.89%; while C.V. of Rf value were 15.61% and 16.59%, respectively); Upland ecotype showed less variation (C.V. of bands number was 0, C.V. of Rf value was 3.56%). The variation in Tjere, Aman and Bulu ecotypes were quite similar to Upland(C.V. of bands number were 5.0%, 4.9% and 4.31%, C.V. of Rf value were 5.57%, 4.65% and 5.07% respectively). The specific zymorgraphic pattern represented eco-geographic race or ecotyes were not found due to zymorgraphic differences existing in each ecotypes. Based on the average band number and the similarity index of Rf value in each ecotypes, 7 ecotypes can be subdivided into 3 groupes: A group (Aus and Bore), B groups (Gundil) and C group (Tjere, Aman, Bulu and Upland rice).
