This article describes the recent development of maleic anhydride production technology, the world annual production capacity, the main companies in the world with production capacity more than 2,000 tons per year and the total amount consumed in various end products by the US. One of the major problems discussed in this article is how to select raw materials and reduce the production cost of maleic anhydride. It is author' s view that the appropriate minimum production capacity for maleic anhydrideis about 10,000 tons per year when the best economic results are taken into account. As the ethylene industry develops, attention should be paid to the normal butane and mixed C_4 as raw materials for the production of maleic anhydride and new technology should be adopted i. e. catalytic oxidizing fluidized bed and solvent method for recovering end product in the future.

This article describes the recent development and tendency in technology for manufactruing hydroxy-benzaldehyde (salilaldehyde and phydroxy-benzaldehyde) by Reimer-Tiemann reaction. By using this new process the end product can he obtained with high yield and excellent purity. Tar formation and reaction time can he also reduced thus increasing the economic, results greatly.

本文叙述了采用赖默-梯曼反应制备羟基苯甲醛(水杨醛和对羟基苯甲醛)工艺的最新进展及发展趋势。采用新的工艺方法,可以高收率地得到高纯度的目的产物,减少焦油的生成量和缩短反应时间,因而可大大提高经济效益。
