Studies on three types of antifungal antibiotics produced by representative Actinomycetes has been described. Three morphologically distinct groups classified as series white, yellow and brown were subjected to chemical examinations for their characteristics. All these groups of Actinomycetes were primarily antifungal against a variety of test fungi. They are taxonomically unrelated organisms possessing the ability to produce different forms of antifungal substances. By means of solvent extraction, three antibiotics...

Studies on three types of antifungal antibiotics produced by representative Actinomycetes has been described. Three morphologically distinct groups classified as series white, yellow and brown were subjected to chemical examinations for their characteristics. All these groups of Actinomycetes were primarily antifungal against a variety of test fungi. They are taxonomically unrelated organisms possessing the ability to produce different forms of antifungal substances. By means of solvent extraction, three antibiotics designated as antibiotic A-94, A-113 and A-262 were successively obtained in forms of crystalline powder or amorphous solid. The characterized ultraviolet and infrared absorption spectra of these antibiotics indicated the presence of chemically different polyene structures, for example, antibiotic A-94 was classified as conjugated tetraene, and both antibiotic A-113 and A-262 as conjugated heptaene. On the basis of comparison of chemical reactions with the known polyene antibiotics recorded in literatures, it is suggested that, antibiotic A-94 is identical to fungicidin, and antibiotic A-113 and A-262 should be regarded as two new members of the heptaene group, based upon the fact that although both gave positive Molisch reaction as does amphotericin B, they differed essentially from amphotericin B by specific rotation in several solvents. However, with the aid of analysis of functional groups it is possible to differentiate antibiotic A-113 from antibiotic A-262 according to the absence of N-methyl group in the molecule of antibiotic A-262. The biological spectra of these antibiotics when tested upon representative organisms showed that both the heptaene antibiotic A-113 and A-262 were active in vitro against influenza virus PR_8 and protozoa such as trichomonas vaginalis, while the tetraene antibiotic A-94 was found to have weak effect against influenza virus and no effect on protozoa. All these three polyene antibiotics were strongly effective-against pathogenic and saprophtic candida and bear yeast, but apparently have no inhibitory action against different forms of bacteria as well as Ehrlich ascites tumour cell.

对中国南方土壤最常发現之三种类型放綫菌的三种代表抗菌素,从化学与物理性貭与文献所报告者作了比较,发现抗菌素A-94与制霉菌素(Fungicidine,Nystatin)为同一化合物。其他二个抗菌素A-113与A-262之研究推论为属于七烯类之新抗菌素,这两个抗菌素除抗酵母菌外并具有抗原虫、流感病毒之生物性质。

Fifteen strains of Influenza virus were isolated in the period from summer of 1957 to spring of 1958. These strains of Influenza virus belonged to type A by the complement fixation test, but differed sharply in the hemoagglutination inhibition test from the standards A, A-prime, B and C type. The strains isolated in 1957 and 1958 were similar to the strain A/Asia/57 (Peking) in their antigenic structure.

Summary In order to find a simple and rapid method for evaluation of swine erysipelas serum, the hemagglutination-inhibition test was tried and the successful results may be briefly summarized as follows: (1) Among more than one hundred strains of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae under test, a particular strain, E. 5601, was found to agglutinate chicken erythrocytes more clearly than others in the same way as described for influenza virus. (2) The agglutinating action of strain E. 5601 was specifically...

Summary In order to find a simple and rapid method for evaluation of swine erysipelas serum, the hemagglutination-inhibition test was tried and the successful results may be briefly summarized as follows: (1) Among more than one hundred strains of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae under test, a particular strain, E. 5601, was found to agglutinate chicken erythrocytes more clearly than others in the same way as described for influenza virus. (2) The agglutinating action of strain E. 5601 was specifically inhibited by swine erysipelas immune sera, and was not influenced by normal serum, hog-cholera serum, nor by hemorrhagic septicemia (or pasteurellosis) sera. (3) Thirteen batches of swine erysipelas hyper-immune sera were detected for their potency, and, as a result, it was found that the hemagglutination-inhibition titers of different batches showed a series of gradient degrees in which potent sera always possessed an inhibition titer above 1: 384, impotent ones usually below 1:192 or less, and normal serum or sera other than swine erysipelas almost no titer. This fact was confirmed by a series of correlated biological tests with mice. (4) By using this method and trying to get ready all those necessary materials and equipments on hand, the potency of swine erysipelas hyper-immune sera can be evaluated within on hour.

一、通过猪丹毒杆菌有与鸡血球凝集的特性,笔者自100多个猪丹毒杆菌品系內找出了凝集作用良好的猪丹毒杆菌E、5601品系,并用来供制本試驗的抗原。二、本試驗用的抗猪丹毒免疫血清共有13个批号,并以健馬血清、抗出敗血清等四种血清作了对照試驗。試驗結果,各个抗丹毒免疫血清的凝集抑制价高低表現不一,有凝集抑制价甚低者,有高达1:384者。一般在有效期內的抗猪丹毒免疫血清,其凝集抑制价最高;失效或距失效期較久的血清則凝集抑制价逐漸减低。至健馬血清、抗禽畜出敗血清等非特异性血清均无凝集抑制現象。三、小白鼠作血清效力对照試驗說明:鸡血球凝集抑制价的高低与抗猪丹毒血清的免疫效力有直接的密切关系,經以13批抗猪丹毒血清几次重复試驗証明,无凝集抑制价的各类血清或者凝集抑制价低于1:192者的抗猪丹毒血清,对小白鼠的保护力亦差;若凝集抑制价能达1:384者,則血清效力佳良,并可符合国家頒布的效力标准要求合格适用。四、本报告內就猪丹毒免疫血清鸡血球凝集抑制試驗的操作方法以及在猪丹毒免疫血清生产上和血清效力鑑定上的实用价值,均經加以叙述与闡明。
