    The states of uranium existing in coal ash are discussed based on the chemical reactions between the uranium oxides and minerals of coal during combustion. It is shown that mainly U_3O_8 and Ca(UO_2)O_2 exist in the coal ash. When local overheating occurs during ashing, a small amount of UO_2 occluded by molten slag can be found.

One peak corresponds to an O2 mole fraction which is the same order of magnitude as that estimated by assuming equilibration of O2 with CO and CO2. The other represents approximately high O2 concentration resulting O2 consumption of reaction of O2 with char, with neglecting O2 consumption by CO and hydrocarbons at Pt surfaces. The shape of the low cell potential peak which corresponds the high-O2 peak is fitted roughly by a Gamma probability density function. Then the time-averaged O2 concentration is easy obtained from the fitted function of the time-resolved O2 cell potential. By assuming O2 reaction with char is the first order, the distribution of the cell potential is equivalent to a residence time.

    The grain with embedded metal wires and capable of producing two-stagethrusts will, during the combustion process, suffer complex changes of burningsurfaces (see figs. 2, 3, and 4). It is urgent to know how to calculate burningsurfaces and internal ballistics for motors with the above-mentioned grain. Anentire procedure to deal with this problem is presented in this paper. First, thechange process of burning surfaces of grain during combustion is analysed. In-terrupted experiments confirm the correctness of the above analysis of burningsurfaces. Secondly, corresponding to different phases of burning, the authorderives calculation formulas for different types and parts of burning surfaces.The author summarizes seven pertinent items and uses them in deriving theseformulas. Items 1 to 5 are related to equations of curved surfaces and their in-tegral expressions. Item 6 is for finding the equation of the projection on acertain coordinate plane of the intersection curve of curved surfaces. Item 7 isfor establishing the phase that suits certain calculation formulas of burning sur-faces. These items facilitate greatly the derivation of the calculation formulasof burning surfaces. Thirdly, the calculation formulas of burning surfaces andinternal ballistics are so constructed as to form a chain of control equations,which can be used to make calculation point by point. The program of such acalculation chain must be able to solve the following problems: ① It should be able to make judgement, and select the calculation formulasof burning surfaces suitable for the phase in question. Moreover, it should beable to sum up the computed values for the same instant so as to give thecomplete change process of burning surfaces. ② In the chain of control equations, three groups of unknown values--burning surfaces Ab_i, half angles of cone holes φ_i, and pressure of combustionchamber p_i--are mutually dependent on each other. They are functions ofpropellant thickness e_i. Consequently the program should be able to solve forthese three groups of unknown values. This can be accomplished by employing double iterations which satisfy the condition of optimum control. Accurate results are obtained in computer with the preceding entire algo-rithm for the calculation chain. All calculated results are in good agreementwith experimental data. The significance of this research may be summarized as follows: ① A satisfactory method is proposed and accurate predictions may be donenow, whereas only rough estimates could be made in the past. ② Entire calculation process describes numerically the advance of burningsurfaces, therefore, it is very good simulation of combustion. Thus, it is pos-sible to replace large number of expensive experiments with cheap predictioncalculations. ③ The calculation program is an effective means for studying grain geo-metry and performance properties of propellant and motor and for selectingthe best design.

    本文对嵌金属丝双级推力装药在燃烧过程中的复杂燃面变化进行了分析,在此基础上,总结出处理复杂燃面计算的七个条目。使用这些条目,可使推导这类装药的燃面计算公式变得简便。在获得燃面计算公式后,将它和内弹道计算公式组成控制方程链,在计算机上依燃面推进分块分阶段地通过逐点及具有最佳控制条件的二重迭代进行计算,取得了精确的结果。整个计算过程是相当逼真的燃烧模拟,计算结果与试验结果的一致性很好。
