The article introduces method of manufacturing pregelatinized starch from cassava starch by spray-drying. The performance of morphological characters in the great elongation stage and their effects on yield and quality characters were studied on seven sugarcane genotypes. The results showed that the length of leaves was the main factor to make leaves droop. If we select some sugarcane genotypes which have wide and flat leaves but not droop, and have suitable specific leaf weight, loose degree and tillering habit, It would promote the yield and quality in later stage.
