After inoculation on the wheat spike, as the pathogenicity of named Fusarium species were evaluated, we classified them into two major categories: pathogenic and non-pathogenic. The pathogenic ones were subdivided into strong, medium and weak. The ones with strong pathogenicity were Fusarium graminearum, F.sulphureus, F. culmorum, F. camptoceras and F. equiseti var. compactum; and those with medium, pathogenicity included F. tricinctum, F. avenaceum var. graminum, F. avenaceum var. herbarum, F. acuminatum and F. nivale. The above strong and medium pathogenic fungi, except F. graminearum and F. culmorum, were reported for the first time on infected wheat. F. moniliforme, F. semitectum, F. concolor, F. sporotrichioides, F. sporotrichioides var. chlamydosporum, F. equiseti var. longpes all belong to weak pathogenic species. In outdoor experiments F. equseti var. longpes was able to induce light damage to wheat, the rest such as F. moniliforme were unable to cause head blight. F. equiseti and F. oxysporum were non-infectious species. F. graminearum are distributed over 21 provinces. It comprises 94.5% of the whole samples. It is widely distributed with high frequency of occurence and is the dominant pathogenic species in China.

1976~1983年,从安徽省22个市、县的148份小麦赤霉病穗中分离到镰刀菌3259株(占96.7%)。经鉴定分别属于10个种,其中禾谷镰刀菌占96.7%,燕麦镰刀菌占1.5%,串珠镰刀菌占1.1%,尚有少量黄色、尖孢、木贼、弯角、硫色、半裸、三线镰刀菌。样品中全部检出有禾谷镰刀菌,其中98份(占66.2%)样品中只检出一种禾谷镰刀菌,其余样品可同时检出2~4种镰刀菌。研究结果表明,引起安徽省小麦赤霉病的主要病原菌为禾谷镰刀菌。其次为燕麦镰刀菌。并可有少量其他镰刀菌的感染。本文并对分离的10种镰刀菌进行了详细的培养性状、色素、各种孢子形态、大小测量和彩色、显微图谱的研究,发现同一种镰刀菌存在不同的培养性状。
