This paper discusses the design or plotting method to decide theangle,namely spray inclination angle γ (see fig.1),between the spray cone (it is com-prised of holes axes) and the nozzle holder axis according to the given angles of nozzle ??holes axes for multi-hole nozzle holder tip,as well as the design and calculation of theangle between the nozzle hole axis and the nozzle holder axis and the overlooking azimuthdirection angle according to the spray inclination angle and spray cone angle.

An investigation of the characterises of diesel fuel sprays was carried out in a high temperature high pressure constant volume model combustion chamber designed by the authors. By using the high speed Schlieren technigue, the effects of chamber pressure, chamber temperature, air swirl and nozzle hole diameter on spray penetration, spray cone angle, spray shape and spray impingement and its reflection were studied.

The effects of intake swirl, combustiou chamber shape, compression ratio, iujection rate as well as the diameter and length of nozzle hole on diesel engine emission are presented. Experimental investigation is carried out on a medium duty turbocharged diesel engine with the aim of acquiring the optimum parameters to meet the US-EPA 1991 (Enviromental Protection Agency) diesel emission standard.
