Data were obtained for white light at 8 retinal illuminance levels. The modulation transfer function was then calculated from these results. Based on the systems theory and spectral analysis, modulation transfer function provides the resulting description of the performance of human eyes and can be applied to optical engineering and clinical ophthalmology.

Peak identification algorithm-to detect the rising and end of a peak the lstderivative criterion or the increasing tangent search method is adopted.The algorithmfor crest and valley detection,for the discrimination of fusing peaks against rider peaksand for the rejection of pseudo peaks introduced by noise or other factors is also descri-bed.The real time data processing program based on the above mentioned principles hasbeen successfully applied to the study on the determination of HLB for the surface activeagents.This program is also applicable to other analytic or nonanalytic applications ofthe gas chromatography.The microcomputer employed is a CROMEMCO model CS2.
