The programme is available to computer-150 with the instructions of its own. Apart from the mainframe, the peripheral devices such as photoelectric tape reader (PTR), line printer and cross-section display unit etc. are used. Approximately 2-3 hours are needed to process slalom line sections of 100 field tapes with the programm on hand.This paper deals mainly with the guidelines for the design of the structured programme and the mathematical model which will put the method into effect, it does not touch upon the concrete machine instructions. Besides, from the existing examples of the two sections being processed, some tentative discussions concerning the influence of slalom line of the parameters such as layout ch tigraphical dip and velocity on geological interpretation effect were made. The critical data were calculated. The author hopes that it can be served as a scientific basis either for the design of field work or for the choice of processing parameters.

Phase transformation apparently lagged behind densification but did notshow any significant influence on strength. Thermal treatment was further tried on these materials to crystallize the grain boun-dary glassy phase.High resolution electron microscopy clearly revealed the appearance and dis-appearance of certain Y, N containing crystalline phases and the crystallization of grainboundary glassy phases. But so far no alumina bearing compound has been identified.Diffe-rential thermal analyses,thermal expansion and thermal conductivity measurements of sam-ples before and after thermal treatment also reflected the crystallization phenomenon ofthe grain boundary glassy phase.This effect brings clear advantages to the high temperaturemechanical properties of these materials.Moreover, the decrease of coefficient of thermalexpansion and the increase of coefficient of thermal conductivity of Si_3N_4 materials afterproper thermal treatment also contribute to the improvement of their anti-thermal shockproperties.

A new approach is needed in developing a data acquisition system which will: Continually monitor signal-to-noise ratio on all data channels during normal operation. Evaluate predominant frequencies and velocities of the source generated organized noise so that field parameters can be modified to give optimum signal-to-noise ratios. Reduce the effect of electromagnetic pick-up by using special circuitry in preference to standard notch and co-mode filters. Use algorithms to reduce data degradation caused by cultural noise. Offer data monitors which more closely resemble the final product. Quantitatively evaluate the fidelity of each total recording channel. and so provide the geophysicist with a more complete set of data from which optimum acquisition and processing parameters can be determined.
