A stand of young and middle-aged Chinese fir of 9618mu has been tended with a variety of technical measures such as selective cutting, deep-digging, manuring, etc. As a result, an average volume of 7.225m3 per mu and an annual growth of 0.787m3 have been obtained in forests at an average age of 9.2 years, which reached the growth target set for the newly selected fast growing, hight yrelding forests of Chinese fir.

作者从1980年开始,为探索现有杉木幼中龄林培育成速生丰产林的可行性,进行了多点,大面积的试验。供试的9618亩杉木幼中龄林,通过间伐、深挖、施肥等技术措施,在平均林龄9.2年生时,达到每亩平均蓄积量7.255m~3,每亩年平均生长量0.787m~3,已达到新造杉木速生丰产林的生长指标。
