As is well known,the mechanism of La3+-NaY ion-exchange reaction reviewed by H.S.Sherry has been mainly ascribed into two steps.The second step of them called the slow step is proposed as the rate-controlling step in the whole reaction with respect to the stripping of water molecules from the hydrated La3+ ion in the large cavity in relation with the replacement of Na+ by La3+ in the β-cage.The corresponding activation energy can be estimated by the enthaly of hydration of La3+ ion.Although the assumption of the rate-controlling step is reasonable,there is still lack of exact experimental evidence.It is to make a deeper understanding of the slow step by means of experimental devices.The arrangement of measurement condition at elevated temperature may facilitate the systematical study of the behaviour of this kind of ion-exchange reaction.The present authors have investigated the slow step at an elevated temperature in three aspects;1.To measure the ion-exchange isotherm,for La3+-NaY system at 100℃and 180℃ respectively.2.To investigate the degree of ion-exchange of individual LnY at 180℃ and to compare the results with the enthalpy of hydration of Ln3+ ions.3.To evalute the rate-constant and apparent activation energy of the slow step at elevated temperature from our experimental data.As a result,a more rational mechanism of La3+-NaY ion-exchange reaction is proposed.Ⅰ.La(H3O)93++ NaY(s)→La(H2O)93+Na(SI)F(s)+Na+Ⅱ.La(H2O)93+(in large cavity)+La(H2O)93+Na (SI)Y(s)→La(H2O)93+LaY(s)+Na+Eq-Ⅱ should consist of the following two consecutive reactions;Ⅱ-A.La(H2O)93+ (in large cavity)→La3++9H2OⅡ-B.La3+ + La (H3O)93+Na(SI)F(s)→La(H2O)3+LaY(s)+Na+Eq-Ⅱ-A is the rate-controlling step for this ion exchange reaction.

The r3-relaxation (-77℃, 260Hz) is assigned to short segments of main chains (CF2)x motions and its intensity increases with annealing.

In the separation of rare earth elements with α HIBA-cation exchange chromatography,. two gradient elution techniques, pH-gradient or concentration gradient, are usually used-It is considered that the two gradients are in fact both concentration gradient of a HIBA anion. For routine analysis a simple gradient device is preferred which consists of two-identical cylindrical vessels and operates under pressure of nitrogen. In the separation of rare earth elements with α HIBA-cation exchange chromatography,. two gradient elution techniques, pH-gradient or concentration gradient, are usually used-It is considered that the two gradients are in fact both concentration gradient of a HIBA anion. For routine analysis a simple gradient device is preferred which consists of two-identical cylindrical vessels and operates under pressure of nitrogen. The mixing vessel contains 150 ml of 0.75M α HIBA solution at pH 2.50, and the reservoir vessel, 150 ml of 0.50M α HIBA solution at pH 4.50. A Stainless steel column (φ4×500 mm) was filled with 2×8 cation exchange resin (20-30μm). During the elution at 80±0.5℃, the flow-rate was adjusted to. 0.7 ml/min by regulating the pressure of nitrogen. Ten rare earth elements were completely separated within seven hours without cross contamination. The recovery tor each rare earth element was above 95%.The effect of four solutions for initial loading of the column on the band was examined: (1) The rare earth nitrates dissolved in 0.5M α HIBA solution at pH 3.20. (2) The solution of rare earth nitrates adjusted to pH 3.0-3.5 with ammonium hydroxide. (3) The rare earth hydroxides dissolved in 0.5M α HIBA solution at pH 3.20. (4) The rare earth nitrates dissolved in dilute HNO3 solution at pH 2.5-3.0. The experimental results; indicated that the fourth solution for initial loading of the column is the best. Maximum rare earth concentration occurred on the top of the column, and adsorbed band is narrower. Better results could be obtained from the,first solution, but the rare earth precipitates were sometimes separated out from the solution after dissolving. Based on the above mentioned facts, a procedure was proposed to separate and determine individual rare earth radioactive nuclides from the fission products, and good results were obtained when it was applied for the determination of the fission yields of the rare earth nuclides.

本文叙述了用α-羟基异丁酸(αHIBA)作淋洗剂,氮气加压进行的梯度淋洗;在两个形状和大小相同的圆柱容器所组成的简单梯度装置中,通过同时改变αHIBA溶液的浓度和pH值,获得了凹形指数曲线的αHJBA阴离子浓度梯度。七小时内分离十个稀土元素,没有交叉沾污,收率大于95%。
