In the present work the effects of Ta_2 O_5 and MgO additives on si-ntering, microstructure and mechanical properties of ultra-pure aluminaceramics were examined. The microstructure of the fracture surfacesof specimens was studied by metallography, transmission electron micr-oscope(TEM), and scanning electron microscope(SEM). It was foundthat addition of a small amount of Ta_2O_5 accelerated sintering of alum-ina ceramics more effectively than MgO did. The specimens with addi-tion of Ta_2O_5 can be sintered...

In the present work the effects of Ta_2 O_5 and MgO additives on si-ntering, microstructure and mechanical properties of ultra-pure aluminaceramics were examined. The microstructure of the fracture surfacesof specimens was studied by metallography, transmission electron micr-oscope(TEM), and scanning electron microscope(SEM). It was foundthat addition of a small amount of Ta_2O_5 accelerated sintering of alum-ina ceramics more effectively than MgO did. The specimens with addi-tion of Ta_2O_5 can be sintered to even 98% of the theoretical density bylower temperatures. Addition of Ta_2O_5 obviously lowers the sintering.temperature and increases the strength of ultra-pure alumina ceramics.The author pointed out the different effect mechanisms of Ta_2O_5 andMgO, as additives to the ultra-pure alumina ceramics, after companingtheir affect on the sintering process and the microstructure of aluminaceramics. The essential function of Ta_2O_5 may be interpreted as a solidsolute Penetrated into the lattice, which gives rise to "composition im-perfection", increases diffusion coefficient Dv, dentities samples and acc-elerates sintering process, while MgO segragates at grains boundariesand restrains the growth of grains. Adding an adequate amount of bothadditives to ultra-pure alumina and bringing them into full play cansinter samples to theoretical density at relatively low temperature. Thestrength value of ultra-pure alumina ceramics is not only pependent onaverage grain size, but the grain pacting structure and size distributi-on, which are also sensitive factors. The results of SEM observations. of the fracture surfaces of samples by SEM, at room temperature showthat the fracture of samples is mainly intergranular, with the increaseof grains size the transgranular fracture increases gradually. The tra-nsgranular fracture does not follow some crystallogy plane. but dis-play step or screw forms. This could Particularly observed in sample C(added 0.50% Ta_2O_5) which may be caused by solid solute impurities.

This paper also gives a brief description of the view of some foreign researchers.We make some necessary analysis of the effect mechanism of sprue—down—Well.

为了揭示直浇道凹井(直浇道窝)的作用,本文介绍了应用水力挂拟法研究有、无直浇道下凹井的两组试验模型的对比充填试验。发现结构正确的直浇道下凹井有以下几点重要作用:(1)减轻对直浇道底部的冲击,育明显的缓冲作用;(2)它缩短了直一横浇道拐弯的流股的严重紊流的过渡区,有减少开;成二次氧化央渣的倾向;(3)减小直一横浇道拐弯的局部阻力系数和局部水头损失,(4)明显地改善了横浇道的压力分布特性,(5)使相等截面的多内浇道的流量更为均匀。文中还简要介绍了国外研究者的看法。对于直浇道下凹井的作用机理作了必要的分析和解释。
