Soochow University,as a Christian College,was one of the earliest universities engaged in teaching and research ing sociology in China. The article aims at clarifying the process of sociology in Soochow University and analyzing its devel- opment after sociology transferred into China aided by Christian College.

作为苏州大学前身的东吴大学,是创办于1901年的教会大学,在办学上取得过显著的成绩,也是在中国最早开设社会学课程及开展研究的大学之一。本文力图梳理社会学在东吴大学发展脉络,借此探讨社会学依托教会学校从西方入中国后的发展和变化。
