A more complete gelation time-pH curve was obtained with a minimum point on the left side of the maximum in addition to the one on the right, which provides an important proof of the truth of the proposed theory concerning the polymerization reaction of silicic acid. On the basis of the theory and the characteristics of the gelation time curves, specific polymerization rate constants as well as successive acid dissociation constants are calculated.

Properties of the mixture as well as the experimental results in a pilot plant are reported.The reducing slag used was the kind left over in the steel smelting when the electric arc furnace process was adopted. The mixture thus produced embodies the principle of turning futility into utility and disadvantage into advantage.Experimental results show that this new type mixture has properties similar to those of the self-hardening sand mixture bonded by sodium silicate, but with much higher collapsibility. At present, it is a competitive substitute for the mixture bonded by sodium silicate in the making of iron casting cores, and is likely to supersede the latter in the future.

    本文介绍了一种以炉渣作为粘结剂的新型自硬砂,指出了在暑季和冬季的配方、性能及生产实践结果。所用炉渣为电炉炼钢的还原渣,是废物利用,变害为利。实践表明,炉渣自硬砂的性能与水玻璃自硬砂类似,但出砂性极好,是当前铸铁件替代水玻璃自硬砂制造泥芯的一种有生命力的新型自硬砂。
