The paper is written with the hope to correlate the macroscopic andmicroscopic viewpoints in order to reveal the physical meaning of K_(1c) andits significant influential factors. In brittle fracture phenomena, the meaning of K_(1c) is discussed in termsof specific surface energy, cohesive force field at the crack tip and also thelattice trapping effect. It is pointed out that the K criterion can be a su-fficient condition as well as a necessary condition only under the case thatthe crack tip remains sharper...

The paper is written with the hope to correlate the macroscopic andmicroscopic viewpoints in order to reveal the physical meaning of K_(1c) andits significant influential factors. In brittle fracture phenomena, the meaning of K_(1c) is discussed in termsof specific surface energy, cohesive force field at the crack tip and also thelattice trapping effect. It is pointed out that the K criterion can be a su-fficient condition as well as a necessary condition only under the case thatthe crack tip remains sharper than a critical size. For small scale yielding, the blunting of crack tip through the emissionof dislocations and the attraction of opposite dislocations around the tip isbelieved to be the most probable physical picture, with the emphasis beingput on the theoretical results of Vitek. In the continuum theory, it is suggested that the effective fracture energymay be calculated at least semi-quantitatively. This leads to an expressionof K_(1c) similar in form to the results of Chen- Chih and Hahn- Rosenfield.It is concluded that the following quantities are of prime importance thatmay affect K_(1c): index of strain hardening rate, younsg' modulus, tensilestrength, plane strain fracture strain and a suitable length parameter, theexact meaning of which depends upon the fracture mechanism.

The 3d energy bands and the density of states N(E)curves for the b.c.c. Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe and the f.c.cF_e, Co, Ni and Cu are calculated in detail by using the tight-binding method. The 3d energy bands and the density of states N(E)curves for the b.c.c. Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe and the f.c.cF_e, Co, Ni and Cu are calculated in detail by using the tight-binding method. The electronic configuration d~(n—1)s~1 is adopted for these crystals. The crystal field integrals are accurately calculated. The effect of the overlap integrals and the second-nearest neighbor interaction on the energy bands have been taken into account. The calculated values of 3d filled band widths and the electronic specific heat coefficients in these crystals are in fair agreement with the experimental data. From the systematic calculation, the regularities of the 3d energy band structures and the density of states N(E) curves are found for the iron transition series. The results also indicate that variation of the 3d energy band width with respect to the atomic number is similar to that of interatomic cohesive force for these crystals. Finally, the overlap integral, the crystal field integral and the econd-nearest neighbor interaction which make some contributions to the computed values of the band widths are discussed.

In this article the author pointed out that the values of friction coefficient of gravity dams adopted in China were rather too small, and proposed some experimental data in designing for various types of dams of small and medium-sized reservoirs so as to reduce the construction cost.

在我国,岩基上重力坝的抗滑稳定往,以往普遍采用不计及凝聚力的摩擦公式计算。抗剪摩擦系数(简称摩擦系数)值的大小,对重力坝工程的安全性与经济性的影响颇大。本文目地在于:1、论证我国重力坝的抗剪摩擦系数取值一般偏低,2、提出抗剪摩擦系数的推荐值供中小型重力坝工程设计中使用,以求降低工程造价。
