In the presence of this catalyst and under medium hydrogen pressure, hydrogen consumed is 0.3—0.5% and the liquid product yield is 95—97%.A 67% yield of jet fuel can be obtained from the hydroisomerization of a middle cut feedstock in single-pass over the new catalyst at 420℃, hydrogen pressure 40 atm., space velocity 0.70, and volume ratio of hydrogen to oil 1000:1. Its chief physicochemical properties are as follows: specific gravity 0.783 (d_4~(20)), freezing point —64℃, heat of combustion (net) 10320 kcal/kg, and an aromatic content about 16%.

In the process of reaction of the catalyst, the metal (lead) contained in it is introduced in a molecular state into the substance catalyzed (nitro-cellulose). As a result, a new component called nitrocellulose lead, a form of metallic polymer is thus formed. The formation of this new component in doable-base propel lants may not only help to overcome some difficulties caused in the technological process of propel-lant manufacture due to the use of inorganic and organic lead salts, but may also improve homogeneity of the propel lant components and stability of combustion. Results obtained from the experiments show that in the case of 5 and 7% nitrocellulose - lead introduced into the double-base propellant, plateau characteristic appears on the u(p) curve within the range of 40-100 atm, with the pressure exponent of 0.24. This is the range of pressure appl id in most solid propellant engines.
