The functional recovery status of posterior cricoarytenoid muscle were evaluated by using endocopic, electromyographic, histochemical, and histologic means....

Posterior cricoarytenoid muscle reinnervation surgical procedures were performed in 17 adult mongrel dogs. There are three different kinds of transplants to be investigated: the nerve-muscle pedicle procedure described by Tucker recently in 10 dogs; free muscle bloek graft in 2 dogs; and the sternothyroid branch of the ansa hypoglossi implantation in 5 dogs. The nerve-muscle pedicle group and the sternothyroid branch of the ansa hypoglossi group were successful to show evidence of reinnervation of the denervated posterior cricoarytenoid musele, but the free muscle block group failled. Conclusions of the study include the following points; 1. The nerve-muscle pedicle group resulted in reinnervation of the posterior cricoarytenoid muscle by nerve regeneration and sprouting rather than by the motor end-plate itself. 2. The nerve implantation group resulted in reinnervation of the posterior cricoarytenoid muscle by nerve regeneration. 3. Free muscle block graft did not result in vocal cord abduction.

This is a report of observations on the functional recovery of muscle transplants in rabbits following 3 different kinds of reinnervation, namely: nerve suture, nerve implantation and dual neurotization (nerve suture and implantation). The results showed that all of these 3 methods can reinnervate the muscle transplants revasoula-rized by microsurgical anastomosis. The difference in the functional recovery following different kinds of reinnervation was mainly in the contractile tension of the transplants. The contractile times were near normal in all 3 groups of rabbits. The recovery in contractile tension following dual neurotization and norve suture was better than that following nerve implantation. The reason for such a difference and the potential clinical value of the different methods of reinnervation are discussed.

本文报道吻合血管的原位移植肌用神经缝合、神经植入和双神经支配的形态改变的实验室研究。植入组的神经纤维以原髓鞘外生长方式支配肌纤维为主,可见异常形态和新生的运动终板。双神经支配组的肌肉可在植入及缝合神经部位见到终板的分布区,证实吻合血管的移植肌可重获神经的支配。在获得双神经支配时,因有互补作用而使肌肉神经再支配更加完全。
