Preliminary investigations were carried out on the physical and external characters, growth and reproductive performance of the 3,027 brown goats for evaluation and improvement. The genetic traits of the brown goat are stable, and it is early-maturing and physically strong, Most of the external characters are essentially in agreement with published reports, but some of them have changed. They grow better than. they did in the suburbs of Chengdu and their body is bigger. The dynamic changes in the activity of brain acetylcholinesterase (AchE) and the isozymes of three enzymes during the period of mud carp's cold shocking were preliminarily investigated through the methods of spectrophotometry and starch gel vertical electrophoresis. According to the remarkable lowering of brain AchE and the notable raising of the activities of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) isozymes in the liver tissue, as well as the changes of the activities in malate dehydrogenase (MDH) and esterase(EST) isozymes in the tissues of mud carp which were under cold shocking, we discuss some biochemical factors correlated with the genetic trait of low temperature endurance in mud carp and suggest that the limiting activity of brain AchE could be used as a useful biochemical index showing the damage to the central nervous system, which in turn causes cold shocking and dying with metabolic disorders in the mud carp.

This paper summarizes the methods and preliminary results of the selective cross breeding experiments on the mud carp in order to improve its low temperature endurance.The genetic traits analysis of the hybrid progenies (F_1 and F_2) with respect to their parental fishes is presented in this paper likewise.The genetic mechanism of low temperature adaptation and the molecular genetic basis of antifreezing character in some fishes are discussed in this paper. Whether the molecular genetic basis of the low temperature endurance in the mud carp is similar to any one of the other fish's adaptative mechanism or not remains a question for further research. Nevertheless, this question should be an excellent research subject in physiological and biochemical genetics of fish.When the problem of genetic mechanism and molecular basis of low temperature endurance in fish is thoroughly solved, the technique of genetic engineering for improving low temperature endurance in some warm water fishes would get its reliable theoretical basis and the effective scheme for this genetic improvement could be established. However,selective cross breeding is still an effective scheme for genetic improvement at present. The defects of long breeding period and a large number of fishponds required for this scheme would be improved by means of quick establishment of the pure lines through asexual reproduction and distinguishing different parental lines that are cultured in the same pond with phenotypic biochemical markers.

本文介绍用杂交选育方法改良鲮鱼(Cirrhinus molitorella)耐低温能力的试验经过和已取得的进展。同时,分析讨论了杂交后代(一代和二代)性状遗传的某些结果。对鱼类低温适应和抗冻、抗寒等方面的研究进展作了介绍和讨论,并认为只有把鱼类耐低温性状遗传的分子机理彻底阐明,人们才有可能直接利用基因工程技术定向地改良像鲮鱼等不耐寒物种的抗寒性能。此外,我们也对如何改进鱼类杂交选育的技术措施提出一些意见。
