On the basis of geomorphological, geological and geophysical studies as well as observations of seismic activities this report tries to show the existence of a giantic active deep-fault belt consisting of a system of horsts and grabens and stretching over eastern China.From the analysis of the structures, structural surfaces and elongation of this tectonic belt, as well as the studies of deposits, the tectonic belt under investigation may be considered as a result of the action of isostatic adjusment occurred after Yanshan movement, namely, a tracking fault belt of intense differential vertical movement predominated by tensional shear.As the belt exerts its control on sedimentary fades, draingage system and igneous activities-especially the existence of the ultrabasic rock belt, it may serve as an indicator of ore-searching and a reminder of the presence of a tectono-seismic belt as well.

By analyzing and comparing the superficial and deeper structural features of the region, it can be found that a nearly NWW-SBB oriented strong horizontal stress field has been in action within the crust and thus given rise to the up- and downwarping structural units of the region.Hypocentral distributions of earthquakes in this region may be that west of the Gaoliying(高丽营) fault, most of the earthquake foci are located on the top and bottom surfaces of the so-called granitic layer, while east of the Gaoliying fault, they are mostly on the fault belt itself. (Fig. 1).

本文介绍北京地区康庄—大厂剖面试验的地震转换波测深法得到的地壳、上地幔结构.显示层状和断块的特征。分析本区地表构造与深部构造的特征及其相互关系表明,本区地壳内存在过很强的近 NWW-SEE 向水平压应力,从而造成本区隆、凹的各基本构造单元.本区震源分布有两种情况:高丽营断裂以西震源大都分布在“花岗岩”层的顶面和底面上,在此断裂以东地区震源主要分布在断裂带上(图1).

The Yihe-Suhe fault belt is a Mesozoic rift structure, consisting of many secondary faults. The left lateral strike-slip motion along these faults between the Jurassic and the Cretaceous periods appears to be the initial stage of development of the rift. Then a florishing stage of faulting depression and extension was in Cretaceous time. Since the Tertiary period it had become a compressonal tectonic belt characterized by the intensive folding and thrusting, and the rift is disappeared.

本文从沂沭断裂带的大地构造背景、边界断裂、地貌、沉积岩相、火山和地震活动、地壳深部结构、重力、地热等的分析,说明沂沭断裂是一条中生代的裂谷,并给出了裂谷的形成机制及其演化特征。
