One of the distinguishing characteristics of the flash butt welding is its discontinuity of flashing in welding process. The platen movement should be designed to be consistent with this continuity, i. e., with the controlling of the contactor bridges in the instantaneous flashing process in order to stabilize the flashing and therefore increase the heating efficiency. In this paper the mechanism of the discontinuity of flashing in the welding process has been analyzed and a design of instantaneous regulation...

One of the distinguishing characteristics of the flash butt welding is its discontinuity of flashing in welding process. The platen movement should be designed to be consistent with this continuity, i. e., with the controlling of the contactor bridges in the instantaneous flashing process in order to stabilize the flashing and therefore increase the heating efficiency. In this paper the mechanism of the discontinuity of flashing in the welding process has been analyzed and a design of instantaneous regulation of the platen movement on the basis of practical flashing process presented. According to this design, a corresponding electro-hydraulic servo system with a closed loop circuit has been designed. At the same time, the experimental results show that the stability of the flashing process is greatly improved, and the macro velocity of the moving platen can be self-regulated to suit the changes of the melting speed of workpieces without the conventional feeding mechanism in a welding machine. It is estimated that the power used can be reduced by a factor of 10.

本文认为闪光焊的基本特点是闪光过程的不连续性,动板运动必须适应这一不连续性,也就是应与触点的瞬时过程相一致,才能达到闪光稳定,提高加热效率的目的。文章对闪光的不连续性进行了分析,并提出了以触点实际过程为基础的实时调节方案。根据这一方案设计了相应的闭环电液伺服控制系统,这一系统的试验结果表明,闪光过程的稳定性大为提高,实现了动板宏观送进自动适应工件烧化速度的增长,焊机不再需要凸轮等给定送进曲线装置。由于加热效率大幅度提高,闪光比功率比常规送进法降低达十倍,已经用这一方法为工厂成批生产了刀具,使用情况良好。
