Modern secular average temperature for the central bottom water of the cold water mass in summer is only 581℃ in the North Yellow Sea,indicating that there was a stable cold water mass in the South Yellow Sea during the Last Interglacial,and the center of the cold water mass was located at 34°18′N,122°10′E,about 150km southwest of that of the modern cold water mass.
It is shown from the analysis results of available shoreline monitoring data and historical observed data that the maxium erosion depth in the area during 1985 to 2004 has reached 7.5 m,the central location of intensive erosional area has undergone a shifting process from northwest to southeast,the scope of intensive erosional area has decreased constantly,and the silting phenomena have occurred in some local areas.
It is inferred that the average speed of central trough valley undercutting is 0.7 cm·a-1, and the average speed of tidal current delta accumulation outside the west mouth is 0.17~0.31 cm·a-1 after the Qiongzhou Strait formed.
