The paper presents the research results of a direct injection diesel engine operating on dimethyl ether (DME).The effects of main parameters of combustion system such as plunger diameter,nozzle type,fuel delivery advance angle,protruding distance of nozzle tip to the bottom plane of cylinder head and swirl ratio on performances of DME engine are investigated.By adding a pressure pump in the fuel supply system,the vapor block of DME in the fuel system is eliminated,and the engine runs smoothly on DME over the wide range of speeds and loads.The indicator diagrams and emissions are recorded and calculated after optimization of the combustion system and compared with those of the engine operating on diesel.The thermal efficiency of DME engine shows 3% higher than that of diesel engine and low maximum combustion pressure,low rate of pressure rise,smokeless combustion,low NO x emissions can be achieved.The results show some excellent characteristics in reducing emissions for diesel engine operating on DME.

在直接喷射式柴油机上进行了燃用二甲醚的试验研究,对柱塞有效行程和柱塞直径、供油提前角、喷油压力、进气涡流比、喷嘴型式等燃烧系统主要参数对发动机功率和热效率的影响进行了研究,在燃料供给系统中增加燃油输送泵,消除了气阻,发动机可以在宽广的转速和负荷范围内稳定运行,发动机热效率比原机高3% 。在优化燃烧系统参数的基础上对示功图和排放的测量及计算表明:二甲醚发动机最高爆发压力、最大压力升高率和 N Ox 排放均低于原机,烟度排放为0。试验结果显示了直喷式柴油机燃用二甲醚在降低排放方面的优越性能。

In this paper,the emission characteristics of a direct injection diesel engine fueled with dimethyl ether (DEM) are studied and compared with those of diesel fueled engine. The results show that the engine speed and brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) have great influences on emissions. In this paper,the emission characteristics of a direct injection diesel engine fueled with dimethyl ether (DEM) are studied and compared with those of diesel fueled engine. The results show that the engine speed and brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) have great influences on emissions. In comparison with those of the engine fueled with diesel,the NO. emission is decreased significantly,the smoke rate is nearly zero,the CO and the HC emissions are reduced slightly and the HCHO emission is increased. This paper is concerned with an experimental study of a light duty direct injection diesel engine operating on dimethyl ether (DME). Investigatigated are the effects of plunger diameter, nozzle type, fuel delivery advance angle, vertical distance of nozzle tip into cylinder, injection pressure and swirl ratio on performances and emissions of DME engine. The indicator diagrams and needle valve lifts are recorded. The combustion and emission characteristics are evaluated and compared with those for an engine operating on diesel fuel. The results show that the thermal efficiency improves for larger diameter injection plunger and total orifice flow area injector. The average thermal efficiency of DME engine is about 2%~3% higher than that of diesel engine. The former can reduce NO x emission significantly and achieve smokeless combustion. Combustion characteristics include injection and ignition delays, the rate of pressure rise and the maximum cylinder pressure and the heat release for DME engine are compared with diesel engine. The experimental and calculating results show that the injection delay (in crank angle) is longer because of the lower acoustic velocity in liquid DME. The ignition delay is much shorter and the peak pressure is far lower due to less premixing combustion. Morever, the diffusion combustion of DME operation is much faster and this leads to the reduction of smoke, PM, hydrocarbon and monoxide emissions. The study demonstrates that DME is an excellent alternative fuel for compression ignition engine.

研究了柱塞直径、喷嘴形式、供油提前角、喷嘴伸入汽缸长度、喷油压力、进气涡流比等燃烧系统主要参数对发动机性能的影响,测录了示功图和喷油器针阀升程以及污染物排放,计算了发动机的燃烧特性,并与发动机燃用柴油时进行了对比.发动机性能研究表明:与柴油相比,二甲醚能够提高发动机的热效率,降低NOx 排放,实现无烟燃烧.燃烧特性分析结果表明:二甲醚的喷油延迟角大于柴油的喷油延迟角;二甲醚的滞燃期比柴油短,预混燃烧量少,扩散燃烧速度比柴油快.
