This study aims at obtaining fertilizer application rates for the pasture establishment in the subtropical humid—warm areas. Trials have been undertaken on pastures since 1987. After analyzing soils from different sites, pot trials in greenhouse in 1987 and field experiments in 1988~1990 were conducted at ManZhongtian Farm. The resuls showed that P, Cu and Mo. are the main elements affecting legume growth in favourable situation. This was supported by the soil chemical analysis in the Lab. It was also found that the soil contained the large amount of S and K. These two elements, however, did not much affect legume growth, when Ca—Mg—P were used at the rate of 200~300kg/ha, the yield of pastures decreased as lime rates increased in the experiment. When Ca—Mg—P was used at the lower rate of 100kg/ha, the certain amount lime application was necessary for increasing the pasture yield.

The paper was a prelimary report on research and development progress in pasture and livestock produc- tion in tropical,subtropical and temperate areas of Yunnan Province under the co-operation project be- tween Cina and Australia.The project was implemented in March 1983 and ended in March 1991.Pasture development was emphasised in the first phase of the project based on the plan proposed by both sides , which includes cultivar evaluation(542 introduced cultivars and 212 germplasm materials)、pasture nutr- ition、grassland ecology and seed production.In the second phase,livestock development,including pasture establishment ,livestock feeding management(mainly beef cattle)、health protection and livestock selection and breeding were fully implemented.In the third phase,extension of the proper technologies developed in the project、staff training、project routine management and equipment management were emphasised.The project has achieved considerable progress in pasture and livestock development in Yunnan Province.

本文系初步报导云南省热带、亚热带与温带种草养畜,为中国与澳大利亚政府技术合作促进发展计划协定中项目下获得的反映国家开放政策研究成果。这是一项综合性的系统工程研究体系,工作开始于1983年3月31日至1991年3月31日结束,为期共8年。按照计划,种革为第一分系统,其下进行品种鉴定(引进栽培品种542个与种质材料212个),牧草营养,草地生态,种子生产等研究项目;养畜为第二分系统,进行草场建植,牲畜(肉牛为主)的饲养管理、保健、选育等;管理为第三分系统,其下工作为农村推广,人员技术培训,事业管理,设备仪器配置等。最后达到研究成果上量与质的双丰收。

Through several years' experimental work on pellet inoculation, pelleting material, sticker and inoculation methods for red clover (Trifolium pratense) and white clover (Trifolium repense), which are widely planted in Yunnan Province, were summarized in this paper. The effect of adoptation of inoculation technique in economy, society and ecology was also discussed. It was an essential agricultual step, the author pointed out, in legume pasture establishment.

本文通过近几年对豆科牧草种子丸衣化接种根瘤菌的试验研究,总结出在云南种植豆科牧草所采用的红三叶、白三叶等品种进行接种根瘤菌时对丸衣材料、粘着剂的选择和具体接种制作丸衣的技术;采用此技术在牧草种植中所获得的经济、社会、生态效益;是种植豆科牧草必不可少的一项农业技术措施。
