In young peach orchards of red soil in hilly area, application of mulch to the young yellow peach trees with straw or growing plants not only can conserve soil moisture and decrease soil temperature but also positively influence soil improvement in its fertility during summer and autumn, especially in the case of mulch with straw, which plays a great role in following processes: protecting from a dramatical raise of soil nutrients, accelerating thd vegetative growth in young trees of yellow peach...

In young peach orchards of red soil in hilly area, application of mulch to the young yellow peach trees with straw or growing plants not only can conserve soil moisture and decrease soil temperature but also positively influence soil improvement in its fertility during summer and autumn, especially in the case of mulch with straw, which plays a great role in following processes: protecting from a dramatical raise of soil nutrients, accelerating thd vegetative growth in young trees of yellow peach and increasing fruit yield.The effects of mulch with growing plants on the orchard soil are less than those with straw, but the effects of the former are still obvious as compared with control of non-mulch.Therefore, it is an economical and useful measures for soil management in peach orchards of the newly reclaimed red soils in the hilly area that leguminous green manure crops and/or foliage grass are grown in the interrow of the peach trees and they are turned shallowly over in the soil in a proper period.
