The FZG-Test for the evaluation of the load-carrying capacity of oils or gears has long been, universally acknowledged.To determine the failure load stage, the Visual Method or Weighing Method is usually used.The former saves time, but is less accurate owing to the confinement of personal experiences. The later, recommended by DIN and CEC,is of high accuracy, but more laborious and time-consuming. To determine the weight changes, each load stage requires assembling and disassembling the test gears, filling and draining the oil, then weighing the wheels and pinions individually after gears are cooled, washed and dried. Moreover, it requires the use of a highly sensitive, large capacity analytical balance(2kg±1mg), which could rarely be afforded in ordinary laboratories.This paper presents a new approach to determine the FZG failure load stage of test oils or gears by AAS-Procedure. Investigation and experiment have been done by analyzing quantitatively the Fe (or other elements)-concen-tration of sample oil immediately extracted from oil bath after the test run of each load stage.The weight change Am (in mg) in each load stage was accurately evaluated, which demonstrates the respective wear tendencies of test gears .A" weight change Am—total work A"curve was plotted similar to the Weighing Method. The failure load stage was then determined by means of the curve in the evidence of the wear increment arising sharply from the average level to the high level.The paper mapped out the new procedure in detail.Author' s experiments showed that this procedure results in a test precision which is high enough for industrial practice. As the AAS is a general instrument in common use, this approach may serve as an alternative to the Weighing Method, with the benefits of saving in time, labour and cost.

FZG承载级别是考评油品及齿轮抗胶合承载能力的国际公认指标.评定方法有目察法和称重法两种。目察法依赖个人经验,测试精度差,易有争议。称重法有客观和合理的定量标准可循,试验精度高,故DIN规定仅用称重法;但该法操作繁复,费力费时,且大称量,高感量(2kg±1mg)分析天平国内无法觅得,一般难以具备此项测试手段。本文作者为此提出了一种应用原子光谱技术评定润滑油或齿轮传动FZG承载级别的新方法,试图为润滑油及齿轮的胶合承载能力的试验研究开辟一条新的途径。作者的试验结果表明,本方法可以替代称重法而保持称重法所具有定量判别指标和试验精度较高的优点,并能达到节约试验时间、劳动量和成本的目的。本文所建立的原子吸收光谱法评定FZG承载级别的理论基础、试验的具体步骤和操作方法,可试供工业实践推广应用。本课题是四部协调委员会齿轮油专业组科研计划项目。本文为该项研究任务的阶段成果。
