This paper is an outline of the approach to achieving fault tolerance on a distributed system in which critical tasks are processed on two computers and results are compared. In the paper, the DFTD concept is introduced; the relationship between the fault-tolerant capability and the interconnection topology of the DFTD system is studied; and then, two optimal designs with low cost and high fault-tolerant capability are proposed.

分布式计算系统是当今计算机的一个发展方向,本文建立了一种在分布式系统上实现容错计算的理论模型DFTD(Distributed Fault Tolerance with Duplication),并在这种模型的基础上,讨论了分布式系统的体系结构与其容错能力间的关系,给出了以低成本和高容错度为目标的系统最佳设计方案。 DFTD适合于一般的分布式计算系统,它通过对系统中的重要任务进行二倍仿作来实现故障检测,通过自动故障诊断和重组来实现联机故障处理,这样保证了系统运行的连续性,达到了容错计算的目的。
