The phonetic aspect of the Rongcheng dialect agreed with the treatment of the voiceless Entering Tone as the Rising Tone in The Initial, Final and Tone of a Character in Zhongyuan Chinese Speech, the former providing the foundation for the latter's linguistic system. The are actuality of the fading away of the Entering Tone in middle ancient times, can also be fond in Zhongyuan Standard Pronunciation (《中原雅音》). The phenomenon of some Entering Tone characters being treated as the Rising Tone ones, occurred earlier than the appearance of The Initial, Find and Tone of a Character in Zhongyuan Chinese Speech. It might be the case that the fading away of the Entering Tone in the Bathe region to the south of Dadu, occurred around the middle of the 13th century.
