The main advantages of this method are as follows: 1. Since the exploration works are carried out in the light different stages of mine preparation, prerequisite needs for mine preparation can be satisfied by these appropriate exploratory works. 2. The possibility of multiple utilization of the drifting workings results in less development work and lower production cost. 3. Present method can save time, and favorite the mining preparation being initiated at the right moment. Intensified ore extraction could be realized. 4. The natural solidity of the rock structure and the intrinsical stability of the ore body will not be changed or spoiled, as the exploratory work can be carried out by using of a considerable portion of the drilling holes instead of extensive tunnel and raise driving.

Production blasting is a process of destruction of rock masses in order that ore may be extracted. Many open pit operations are faced with the apparently conflicting requirements of providing large quantities of fragmented rock for the processing plant and of minimizing the amount of damage inflicted upon the surrounding pit slopes. A reasonable compromise between these two conflicting demands may often be found by means of simple engineering of production blasts. Many operations tend to rely too heavily upon...

Production blasting is a process of destruction of rock masses in order that ore may be extracted. Many open pit operations are faced with the apparently conflicting requirements of providing large quantities of fragmented rock for the processing plant and of minimizing the amount of damage inflicted upon the surrounding pit slopes. A reasonable compromise between these two conflicting demands may often be found by means of simple engineering of production blasts. Many operations tend to rely too heavily upon traditional wall control techniques to alleviate a problem already created by the production blasts. Various production trends involving use of larger blastholes and patterns have ten- ded to aggravate the situation. These practices only serve to emphasize the need for engineered improvements. Central to blasting engineering is the process of systematic trial and evaluation. Changes to the blasting system should be made singly, starting with the simplest. This paper discusses simple changes involving drill pattern control, effective use of blastholes and explosives, adequate delaying including use of down-the-hole sequen- tial techniques, effective utilization of free faces, and avoidance of "choked" situa- tions. By directing explosive effort where it is needed, such changes generally result in a significant improvement of slope conditions and of production blasting cost and per- formance.

生产爆破是为开采矿石而破坏岩体的过程。许多露天矿都面临着既要为选厂提供大量破碎的矿石,又要使露天矿四周边坡的损坏达到最小,这样两者显然是矛盾的要求。本文通过生产爆破的简单设计,导求满足这两种矛盾要求的方案。对爆破工艺来说,中心问题是系统的试验和评价方法,对爆破方法的改变应逐一地从最简单的开始。本文讨论了一些简单的改革,其中包括:钻孔布置的控制,钻孔和炸药的有效利用,包括孔内顺序爆破技术在内的适当的延迟爆破,自由面的有效利用和避免“阻塞爆破”。由于把炸药的力量控制在重要的地方,所以这样的改革一般可以使边坡状态、生产爆破的成本和性能得到显著的改善。
