On the basis of a series of soil survey made in the Hwaiho Valley(淮河流域),a plan on land classification for this area has been proposed asreferences for making arrangement in establishing irrigation systems,inland utilization,as well as in soil improvement.Three fundamental principles are considered to be important on landclassification,i.e.(1)the practices in soil improvement must be consideredin connection with those in land utilization,(2)the land classificationshould be considered on land utilization both of the present day and of thefuture time,and(3)the main factors and criteria adopted for landclassification must be appropriate to the particular regional conditions.The main factors used in land classification of the Hwaiho Valley aresuggested as follows:(1)soil types together with their physical andchemical properties,(2)geomorphological characteristics,(3)depth andchemical composition of ground water,(4)present status and furtherimprovement in drainage and irrigation,(5)present status in land utiliza-tion and estimate on soil productivity,and(6)fundamental problems inthe promotion of soil fertility.According to the factors just mentioned,a system of land classificationhas been proposed for the Hwaiho Valley where the land may be classifiedinto seven main types.

淮河流域土壤改良利用分区的目的是供水利方面选择灌区和初步计划灌溉设施及农业方面确定农业区划和改进农业技术措施的参考。分区的基本原则有三:第一,土壤改良必须与利用规划结合,其次分区应注意综合性、长远性和现实性,第三划区的主要因素和标准必须符合地区的特点。淮河流域土壤改良利用分区的主要参考因素为(1)土壤发生分类和主要理化性质,(2)地貌,(3)地下水的深度、矿化度及化学组成,(4)灌溉排水现状及需要改进的情况,(5)土地利用现状及对生产的评价,(6)提高土壤生产力的关键性问题。

So the present article is just a preliminary trial report with the sole purpose of reviewing some historical facts pertaining to the lychee fruit tree.The present article is based on a rather sound and broad summation of inter-related bibliographies starting with the original naming of the word lychee, then, tracingup to the varietal names , as well as the distribution of the fruit tree at home and abroad , down to the cultivation and its utilization. The contents of the present article include the different stages of historical development of the traditional techniques in lychee propagation,seedling plants ,planting , breeding and cultivation, plant protection,fruitharvesting and methods of storage. A brief account of each of the above items is made.Lastly, some sort of bird's eye view summary on each of the pertinent bibliographies of lychee topics is concisely and comprehensively made for the convenience of further research and reference for the readers on the lychee fruit.

原产中国的荔枝,向有“奇果标南土”的称誉,但关于它栽培和利用的历史,现还未发现有较系统、较全面的专著。本文企图在这方面,试抛引玉之砖,作出初步探索。 主要是广泛搜集有关的古文献为考证根据,先从荔枝的原始命名谈起,次从其品种名目、产地分布以至栽培利用(包括繁殖、育苗、种植、培育、防护、采收、贮藏、加工等传统技术)等方面的历史发展过程,分别作简括的叙述。 最后,用“提要”(解题)方式,将历代有关荔枝的专题文献,作出鸟瞰式综述,为今后进一步征文考献、综合分析的研究工作,提供一些线索和方便。

The purpose of this paper is to study the trend in the development and the characteristics of modern agricultural sciences from the viewpoint of managerial science. By making a brief review of the history of development of agricultural sciences the authors point out that modern agricultural sciences have developed into a comprehensively allembracing scientific system arising out of the intertwinement of two vast systems-the natural sciences and the social sciences. In the mean time, this leads to the development of the agricultural system itseif into a new epoch, characterized by the wholeness in its research efforts and the integration in its development.In the present study, the authors point out the salient characteristics of development of modern agricultural sciences are as follows.1. Science-oriented agricultural technology. This is symbolized by themodernization of biological technology, the modernization of the technology and methodology of agricultural scientific researches, and the modernization of agricultural scientific theories.2. Development of agricultural engineering. This comprises of engineer-ing pertaining to the following areas, land utilization, agricultural energy, agricultural systems, protection of human health, agricultural biology , agricultural mechanization , management of agricultural environment, and marine breeding etc. The level of development of these significantly reflects the degree of the modernization of agriculture.3. Science-oriented management of agriculture. This covers mainly theutilization of scientific management in the following areas, agricultural production, agricultural resources, agricultural scientific researches, and agricultural scientific information etc.

本文从管理科学的观点出发,探讨现代农业科学的发展趋势和特点。作者简短回顾农业科学发展的历史,指出现代农业科学在自然科学和社会科学两大系统相互交织的基础上,发展成为一个完整的科学体系,同时也导致其本身进入到一个以总体研究和综合发展为特征的时代。作者在分析农业科学发展总趋势的基础上,指出现代农业科学发展的若干主要特点。1.农业技术科学化:主要表现在生物技术的现代化,农业研究技术和手段的现代化以及农业科学的理论化。2.农业工程化:主要包括土地利用工程、农业能源工程、农业系统工程、农业人体工程、农业生物工程、农业机械工程,以至农业环境治理工程,海洋养殖工程等学科。这些学科的发展水平是反映农业现代化发展程度的重要标志。3、农业管理科学化:主要包括农业生产的科学化管理,农业资源的科学化管理,农业科研的科学化管理以及农业情报的科学化管理等。
