This paper presents the experiment results of drag coefficient of gassolid interphase with Reynolds number Re from 10~2 to 10~6, porosity ε from 0.45 to 0.98 and particle equivalant diameter dp from 3mm to 11mm.
Test re-sults in 1. 4m×1. 4m and 8m×6m wind tunnel show that, aerodynamic drag coefficient of front segment of train model changes with the nose shape, and that of the rear segment changes with its nose shape more apparently.
The correlation used to predict the drag coefficient of multiparticle-fluid systems, which is applicable for Re number Re_m<2×10~5, was given after some modifications were made for the Re number and the drag coefficient of single particle—fluid systems.
After many numerical experiments, the product of the drag coefficient and air density is chosen as a constant, i.e. PaCD = 2.5×10~6g/Cm3, while the typhoon radius is chosen as 95km except for typhoon No.
By fitting the combined field data and lab data, it is found that f(δ) = AδB,where A = 0.13 , B = -0.27. So with the larger wave steepness, the drag coefficient will increase more slowly with the increasing wind speed.
The result gives the conclusion that the drag coefficient (Cd) of the vehicle model increases and the lift coefficient (C1) doesn't change monotonously as the ground clearance is increased within a standard range.
Determining the drag coefficient of symmetric bodies for zero cavitation number
It is shown that approach of the prismatic models to the screen, simulating the ground, leads to some change of the drag coefficient and the appearance of a significant lift force tending to separate the model from the screen.
Bodies of revolution with minimal drag coefficient and low heat transfer at high supersonic speeds
On the basis of modified Newtonian theory and the theory of selfsimilar hypersonic flows we study the form of the optimal contour of a body of revolution with minimal drag coefficient at hypersonic speeds.
For small α, the effect of the nose, just as in two-dimensional flows [1-4], shows up only through its drag coefficient cx, for α=0.
