"Laser cuttig process" is free from tool wear because of low force, low specific energy and high working efficiency. The characteristics of the "Laser cutting process" are not dominated by the mechanical properties of the materials being cut, so that the "Laser cutting process" may especially be adapted to cut materials with high strength, high hardness, high heat resistivity and low thermal conductivity, which are difficult to be cut with tranditional cutting process.

    A study has been made of laser cutting of 5 mm thick stainless steel plate and 2 mm thick low alloy steel sheet samples with 2-3 kW CW C02 laser.The results of cutting for the TEMoo and TEMmm mode were campared.
