Laser cutting is one of the most important application areas of laser processing. According to the basic characteristics of laser beam, the effects of several factors on cut quality, such as the diameter, length and depth of focus, are studied and the structure of lens mount is discussed. Criteria for optical and mechanical design of laser cutting machines are proposed. The cut quality versus deviation of focus has been carefully investigated experimentally from observations of the kerf width,roughness of kerf and adherent slag,etc. It appears that the cut quality is apparently influenced by the defocussed point when the deviation of focus exceeds±0. 2mm. With a thicker workpiece, the effect is even more obvious. Hence an automatic detecting and tracking system of focal location is required to ensure a good quality of cutting.

描述了激光高斯光束传输及变换的特性,从工程角度出发,着重研究激光聚焦后的焦斑位置、焦斑大小和焦深等因素对激光切割质量的影响,并提出聚焦镜座结构设计的关键问题,确定了激光切割机床光学设计参数的若干选择原则,并通过大量激光切割试验得出相应的结论.
