In this paper a mathematical simulation of front wheel shimmy of a 4×4, light truck is investigated. A mathematical model of shimmy system has been established on the basis of road test and measured design parameters. Computations have been made to estimate the influence of steering system stiffness and tire structural parameters upon shimmy. Results of computations have been proved by road tests. In this paper a mathematical simulation of front wheel shimmy of a 4×4, light truck is investigated. A mathematical model of shimmy system has been established on the basis of road test and measured design parameters. Computations have been made to estimate the influence of steering system stiffness and tire structural parameters upon shimmy. Results of computations have been proved by road tests. Measures to eliminate shimmy are proposed.Computations have also been made from the energy point of view to illustrate the physical nature of shimmy phonomenon and inherent relation between forced and self-excited vibrations of shimmy. A new explanation of the efect of gyrocoupling and elastic coupling that exist between vibration of front axle about a longitudinal axis and vibration of front wheels around the king pin axis is also given.

本文根据汽车车架结构的特点,应用薄壁杆系有限单元法,对汽车车架的固有频率和主振型进行了计算。由于计算中考虑了约束扭转的影响并采用了一致质量矩阵的方案,因而降低了对计算机容量的要求。在国产TQ-16机上进行了计算,达到了较高的计算精度。这为今后进一步开展汽车振动的研究,包括动态响应的分析、整车结构的模态综台技术以及汽车舒适性等方面的研究打下了基础。
